“I like the fact that in a small way I can help make people’s lives a little brighter, even if it’s just a friendly face in the middle of a bad week.”

David Pickles, Reception (Bradford)

I get to meet a huge range of people as the receptionist at Keyhouse Bradford.  Often those who come in to see us are anxious and stressed, and they’re not sure whether or not we’ll be able to help them.  The great thing about Keyhouse is that even if we can’t help someone ourselves – and that’s very rarely the case – we can nearly always point them in the direction of other charities or agencies that can help.

My motto is that “you don’t need a reason to help people”, and that’s something that I think is shared by everyone here at Keyhouse.  Helping people is what we’re here for, and there’s a huge amount of passion and dedication among the staff.  The way I see it, if I can help by making someone’s day a little bit more enjoyable, especially if they’re really struggling, then I’ve done what I set out to do.  It’s a busy job, and sometimes it’s a tough one, but I can honestly say that I look forward to coming into work every single day.  What more could I ask for?
