How we got here…
After four years in the making, Keyhouse was set up in 1985 as a hostel for homeless young people in Keighley. Since then, we’ve opened advice offices in Bradford and Keighley as well as expanding our supported housing services to achieve our current position as a leading provider of housing, advice and training. In more recent years we’ve also developed our NVQ training services and, following our merger with HARP in 2008, we now offer services across North Yorkshire.
Our vision, aim and mission today…
Our overall vision is simple: the ending of social exclusion within our society. Our main aim is a practical response to achieving that vision, and is set out in our Memorandum and Articles of Association:
“To prevent homelessness in the Bradford Metropolitan District and surrounding areas by providing quality housing and welfare rights advice services to people in need, and to bring quality housing and advice services to disadvantaged groups within the area.”
Finally, we’ve distilled our vision and aims into a single simple mission:
Addressing housing issues for the most socially excluded.
Our values…
Certain key values underpin everything we do at Keyhouse – they’re central to our ethos and they help make us different to some of the other agencies and organisations in this sector:
- Innovative – because we’re forward thinking and we spearhead change
- Open access – because we’re available, welcoming and inclusive
- Independent – because our services are impartial, with no hidden agendas
- Diverse – because our work reflects the diversity of the communities we serve
- Meeting the highest needs – because we provide essential services to those in the greatest need
The nitty-gritty legal and organisational stuff…
Keyhouse Project is a Company Limited by Guarantee No. 2300872 and a Registered Charity No. 701123. Like many charities, we’re governed by a Management Committee who are both Trustees of the Charity and Directors of the Company.
We’re always interested in hearing from people who might like to join the Management Committee – please see our Support Keyhouse page for more details.
And that's who we are
