Young people
We’ve been working with young people aged 25 and under since the charity was first set up, so we know the kind of specific issues and problems faced by this vulnerable group. Our team takes a sympathetic approach and provides the kind of practical support and advice that solves an immediate crisis, restores hope and paves the way for long-term solutions.
Support provided
We offer all kinds of support and advice to young people, so it’s always worth calling to find out if we can help. Typically, we provide help with:
• Guidance and support to provide access to long-term accommodation whenever it’s needed
• Help with tenancy maintenance
• Access to health services
• Access to education services
• Rights and responsibilities of tenants
Accommodation based: our support is linked to accommodation managed by Keyhouse. In all our services for young people, we provide support to access long-term accommodation followed by tenancy guidance to help retain that accommodation.
Hostel (Keighley): 12 bed spaces – there are service charges that need to be paid by the resident.
Shared (Keighley): 6 bed spaces – there are service charges that need to be paid by the resident.
Salisbury Road (Keighley): 6 bed spaces – residents are responsible for their own bills.
Floating support
With a total of 52 places in the Bradford District, we’re able to provide support wherever the person needing it is already living.
Referral criteria
Hostel: the person must have an immediate need for housing and be a single person aged between 16 and 25.
Floating support: the person must be single, aged between 16 and 25, and have a need for support to access and/or maintain accommodation.
Hostel, Shared and Salisbury Road
Referral to this service is by telephone direct to the hostel (01535 680677) and a risk assessment is carried out over the telephone. The shared units are used as either emergency accommodation or for hostel residents to move into. Salisbury Road flats are used for residents to move into from the hostel.
Appeals
Our appeals process is part of our referral procedure, and means there’s always a second chance if you think our decision has been unfair.
Additional information
We’re always looking for ways to improve the services we offer to young people, so we invite service users to take part in optional meetings and surveys to tell us what they really think about the way we do things.

Twenty-five years since that first Keighley hostel began catering for the region’s homeless, we’re very proud of the successful multi-discipline organisation we’ve become.
